Hello! I’m Debbie, owner and dance instructor at LUX Dance Studio, and I’m so excited you’re here!

Between teaching, choreographing, rehearsals, and performing, I’ve spent the better part of my life on the dance floor. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I fell in love with dance as a young girl – spending most days at the local dance studio. From there, I attended high school as a dance major at The Chicago Academy for the Arts, then trained for a time in New York City before returning to Chicago. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Columbia University of Chicago, and Masters of Science in Biotechnology from Roosevelt University while dancing professionally in the heart of downtown Chicago. (That's right, my second love is math and science!) I’ve been fortunate to be immersed in an incredibly talented dance community throughout my career. After being taught by renowned choreographers, teachers, and instructors for so many years, I consider it a privilege to share my knowledge and love of dance by teaching others.

I thoroughly enjoy the personal connection teaching provides. My goal is to make dancing fun, educational, and exhilarating. Whether you’re a beginner, have previous dance experience, or just want to learn how to dance for a special event - I want dancing at LUX to be something you look forward to each week!

And because I know not everyone learns in exactly the same way, LUX offers private, semi-private, and small group lessons to fit your individual comfort level.
